Appraisals
The James Cox Gallery offers certified appraisals for a single piece of art or entire collections and estates. James Cox (IFAA) began his appraisal career as director of New York’s Grand Central Art Galleries. In that capacity, he documented the value of art for the galleries’ clients, the American Art Dealers Association, museums, the Internal Revenue Service, corporations, and banks.
Estate Management
For diverse reasons, various families have selected the James Cox Gallery to handle every aspect of the organization and sale of the entire collection of artwork that remained in the artist’s studio at the time of his or her death.
Restorations
The James Cox Gallery maintains a roster of highly qualified professionals with whom we work to offer the highest standards of conservation. Since 1976, James Cox has served as a consultant and supervisor for hundreds of restoration projects. These range from basic cleaning and re-varnishing of oil paintings to removal, restoration, and re-installation of WPA murals. Russian Icons, fine prints, rare ceramics, and bronze sculptures all fall under the purview of our conservation program.
Commissions
For over thirty years James Cox has been called upon to select and supervise artists to create artwork for very specialized purposes.
The possibilities for specially commissioned works of art are endless – murals, tapestries, miniatures and many other unique artistic expressions may ennoble and commemorate better than any other means.
